  系列緣起---
『林語堂中英對照』書中各篇均為林語堂先生自中國古典典籍與小品中選輯菁華，進行英文譯介。林語堂先生曾說：「翻譯是很微妙的工作。唯有能夠和作者情意相通的譯者才能翻譯得好。因為譯者實際上是以另外一種語言文字替作者發言，如果兩者不像是老朋友一樣，這怎麼能辦得到？」語堂先生期望藉由他的譯文，傳達其閱讀的激動心情，與讀者共享閱讀中國古籍經典的驚喜與歡愉。
林語堂簡介---
林語堂（1895~1976）是一位以英文書寫揚名海外的中國作家，也是集語言學家、哲學家、文學家、旅遊家、發明家於一身的知名學者。他著有《吾國與吾民》、《生活的藝術》、《京華煙雲》等書，並將孔孟老莊哲學與蘇東坡、曹雪芹等人的文學作品英譯成書，共六十餘種，暢銷國際。30年代，林語堂創辦《論語》、《人間世》、《宇宙風》等雜誌，開創了幽默與性靈文學的文風，40年代創製中文打字機，1972年並用以編纂《林語堂當代漢英詞典》。
 
林語堂故居延請名師，以「幸福城市生活」為主題，從人文、美學、音樂、飲食、旅行、電影與自然環境，各種面向訂出了第四屆週末語堂藝文講座十堂課。為能感受飲食味覺與藝文心靈的雙重饗宴，另有精美下午茶時間，在故居半露天的茶座，伴著山嵐與盆地風光，一邊享用午茶點心，一邊繼續著意猶未盡的討論，陶冶身心。
